9/19/05 - Dohrn Transfer Company Expands, Adds New Jobs
Dohrn Transfer Company announces the opening of a new terminal in Springfield, MO. The fourteenth addition to Dohrn Transfer’s growing network of terminals creates new jobs for Springfield. Dohrn Transfer plans to use this facility to improve service to Southern Missouri.
After announcing expansion into the state of Missouri, Gary Dohrn, President, saw a need to open a terminal in Springfield, “Our original assessment of transportation needs in Missouri showed facilities in Saint Joseph and Sturgeon to be good locations. After our Missouri opening in August, we quickly observed a demand further South. We moved quickly to open a terminal that was situated in a portion of Missouri that had a demand for a reliable less-than-truckload carrier.”
Springfield had been a great addition to Dohrn Transfer. “We have discovered the work ethic in Springfield to be superb. They fit in well to our hard working family of Dohrn employees,” claims Dohrn.
Dohrn Transfer Company currently employs 740 people in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri and Kansas. The less-than-truckload carrier is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. Dohrn offers service into the regional Midwest area with most points being next day points. The third and fourth generations of Dohrn family owns and operates the company from Rock Island, Illinois.
